Single Asian Female is a thought provoking, new comedy blending race and gender in contemporary Australia from Brisbane-based award winning writer Michelle Law. Through the play, we step into the after-hours of a suburban Chinese restaurant and meet a family of smart women who explore social issues of divorce, the unique role we play in our family unit, growing up, parents and siblings, sister relationships.

Set on the Sunshine Coast and based around 3 main characters this hilarious play answers the question of what does it means to be an Asian woman living in Australia. A Chinese migrant Pearl operates a restaurant, and for her it means sacrifice and struggling to connect with her very westernised children. Eldest daughter Zoe is approaching a crossroads in her life where she's forced to choose between a career and a family. The youngest child, Mei is being bullied at school and grappling with the desire to assimilate versus cultivating a unique identity.

The two sisters are at odds with each other with a mother harboring a secret that threatens to tear her family apart. Estimated running time of the play is 2 hours 10 minutes with a 20 minute interval. An Ausian interpreted performance will be given on 2 March 2017 at 7:30 as well as a "Meet the Artist" performance on 22 February 2017.
