After a long day at work, I was sitting at traffic lights in Alderley feeling hungry. McDonald's was calling but after Christmas a burger and fries wouldn't have been a wise idea as my uniform was already getting quite tight around the mid section!
I pulled into The Junction at Alderley complex and tucked amongst a bridal store and a kinky adult store I found Simply Good. On the door the sign invited in health concious eaters with many health snacks on offer. I walked in to check it out and was quite surprised, leaving with snacks and change in my wallet.
It is quite small inside with a small supermarket feel, the aroma of muesli and peanuts hit me and I was free to browse the rows of self serve containers of nuts, dried fruits, muesli and I counted over eleven breakfast foods; corn flakes, cocoa puffs, honey puffs and rice bubbles, all organic and gluten free. There were rows of peanut; glazed, salted, honey roasted, not roasted, mixed with cashews, almost any variety you can think of.
Finally, I came across one of my favourite snacks; soya crisps. I love to snack on these tasty, crunchy little things when driving or at work, so I decided a handful of these would be perfect for my hungry tummy. I had the choice of three flavours and after a sneaky taste, I chose the mustard flavour. I also scooped some honey roasted cashews into a bag for my partner - and it only came to $4.60.
Before you get bored and close the page thinking this is a dull article on organic cereals and brans, for the sweet tooth, you will be delighted to know there are loads of candy and lollies available; from strawberries and cream to chocolate bullets, even the American treats overloaded with sugars.
There is even home made peanut butter. I will definitely try that next time.
For a healthy and tasty snack when driving in the area, pull into Simply Good and grab a handful or two of your favourites.
