Silver Sircus is another one of those bands that has been on my radar for a while now. On a recent Sunday afternoon, they played a gig at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of the ReStrung festival.

Featuring a cream of the Brisbane's musician crop, Parmis Rose on keys, Sallie Campbell on violin, Lucinda Shaw on vocals, James Lees on drums, Terry Dixon on guitar and Wayne Jennings on cello. The group played their way through original songs, and played a haunting cover of Nick Cave's Little Water Song, where they stripped the band back to four musicians (piano, violin, cello and vocals) and captivated the audience with a unique blend between spoken poetry and sung lyrics. Their original track I Am Going to Find You was my favourite in the set, an ambient rock ballad with strings and electro influences. I was particularly moved by the combination of audio and visual during the track What Is A Witch?.

Silver Sircus released the album To The Place That Is Home recently and are taking a short break to work on their next album, but will be back gigging soon. You can like them on Facebook here and check out their website here .
