Whether you’re a lazy beach bum or like to be active,
Shelly Beach in Manly will give you what you want.
It’s a beautiful and safe little beach, with calm waters, great for kids or those who shy away from the huge crashing waves of nearby Pacific Beach in the centre of Manly.
The area around the beach is a protected marine reserve and is a very popular spot for scuba diving and snorkelling, as there’s a vast variety of fish species. Many
scuba diving schools operate from the beach.
For a great day out, pack a picnic or some snags to cook on the free gas bbqs. Or you could grab some lunch or an ice-cream at
Le Kiosk, just by the beach.
Take an after lunch stroll up the hill behind the beach for some amazing cliff top views of Manly. There’s also a short bushwalk around the headland.
To get to Shelly Beach, you can do as I do and take the gorgeous scenic walk from the centre of Manly or if you’re driving, there’s a car park up behind the beach, which charges by the hour.
