Five Star Eating on Brisbane's Bayside
Looking for five star cuisine in Brisbane's eastside? Don't want to travel and park in the city?
Shangri-La Gardens is a classy restaurant on Brisbane's Bayside with a superb selection of mouth-watering cuisine.
The menu is a mix of contemporary Australia with a European influence. The restaurant has an intimate feel set off by its wonderful illuminated tree in its centre and a lovely venue for that special occasion.
Head chef Dean Skinner provides a select menu to tempt most taste buds. The entrée selection boasts deep fried crumbed brie with truffle honey and onion jam, and a bugachino for the lovers of rich seafood flavours.
[ADVERT]The mains menu offers a varied selection with dukkah spiced kangaroo loin with parsnip puree, steamed vegetables and red wine jus. Dean offers a daily 'Fisherman's Catch' choice caught locally or patrons can indulge, as I did, on the day's special of a delicious Mediterranean vegetable lasagna. This is prepared with roasted Mediterranean vegetables, layered between silky sheets of handmade pasta, served with a Persian feta and pine nut salad. The vegetarian dish offered on menu is a beetroot risotto with Persian feta and candied pecans.
The evening meal is rounded off with a tempting range of deserts including crème brulee, sticky date pudding or a Belgium chocolate flourless pudding layered with double cream. To top off the meal is an Affogato short black served with vanilla ice cream.
The restaurant has a small but select wine list. The lovely Enchanted Tree Chardonnay from the Barossa Valley is a perfect mood accompaniment to the setting under the restaurants illuminated centerpiece. A
Reschke 2004 Cabernet Sauvingon is also on offer for those that enjoy a rich robust red.
Located at 1969 Wynnum Road in Wynnum West – just before the Plaza shopping centre –
