Mercury Cinema's successful Seniors on Screen programme is the Friday morning film club for over 50's.

Now in its eighth year, Seniors on Screen at The Mercury Cinema is the place to be on Friday mornings with a series of high-quality films, selected from A-list film festivals from around the world for a special price of just $7 for seniors – with complimentary coffee and tea included.

launches on Friday, 13 March with the South Australian premier of X-Y , the story of a young boy with a special talent for numbers that lands him on the UK team at the International Mathematics Olympiad. Follow the complex and intriguing relationships Nathan builds as he follows his passion in this heart-warming film starring Sally Hawkins and Asa Butterfield.

Seniors on Screen has gone from strength to strength as it provides a programme that appeals to a connected, intelligent, over 50's audience. It's an opportunity to get together with friends, old and new, to enjoy and discuss thoughtfully curated films.

This year's programme has an exciting mix of widely known films alongside documentaries and dramas: Oscar-nominated Leviathan set on Russia's northern coast, is a gripping tale of business, religion and corruption, as a small-fry mechanic is pitted against his town's mayor in a feisty land battle.


The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is the highly anticipated sequel to 2011 hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and continues the stories of popular characters Evelyn, Douglas, Muriel and Madge.



Jimmy's Hall is a powerful political story from 1930's Ireland as activist Jimmy Gralton becomes a target of the infamous 'Red Scare'.



That Sugar Film Damon Gameu follows the tradition of Super Size Me as he reveals the bitter truth about sugar.


The winter chills will be staved off with an Italian-inspired Winter Solstice double-feature on Friday 19th June. Enjoy an un-missable day out that will transport film goers from the dead of winter to sunny Italy.

The incredibly popular and informative from the page to screen: the adaptation of books to film series returns in 2015, presented by Dr Kerryn Goldsworthy. Kerryn is a freelance writer, former Melbourne University literature academic, former editor of the Australian Book Review and extensively published author and blogger.

New to Seniors on Screen is the Tuesday Armchair Travellers Club, held on the third Tuesday of each month. The programme launches on Tuesday 21st April with a specially imported, remastered version of Cleo from 5 to 7, which takes us on a journey around Paris in the 1960s by the French new wave legend, Agnes Varda. The full Tuesday Armchair Travellers Club programme will be announced at the Seniors on Screen launch on Friday 13th March.
