SENI: The International Combat Sports Show 2010

Home > Things to do in London > Sport | Shows
Event: 29/05/2010
London once again opens the doors of the ExCeL in East London for SENI: the ultimate international combat sports extravaganza over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

It only comes once every two years and is a suitably grand affair. SENI is a showcase for every conceivable style of martial art, combat technique and training from around the globe and visitors can watch live demonstrations on the centrally placed mats around the expansive venue.

There are live events in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) League, Muay Thai Premier League and a special Bruce Lee Conference, where his daughter Shannon Lee will be speaking.

You can see gradings in karate, tae kwondo and various schools of kung fu, as well as watch competitions in judo, fencing, capoeira, eskrima and Brazilian jiujitsu. There is no limit to the combat styles available to view and if you fancy a go, there are even classes for you try out.

If you're more a gym person than a combat sports fanatic then SENI also has a range of activities for you such as FAME UK (bodybuilding and fitness competition) and The World's Strongest Man. Plus, there will be stalls on healthy living, fitness training and nutrition.

Tip: bring plenty of cash, because there will be vendors everywhere, selling everything from boxing gloves to protein shakes to Buddhist monks' garb and everything else in between. You can also pick up memorabilia and goods (wholesale and retail) at cheaper prices. And don't be afraid to haggle. While some stalls will take card payments; many will only accept it over a certain amount.

If you want the weekend experience, a ticket will cost you £15, but you can purchase a one day ticket in advance for £10, either for Saturday or Sunday. Children's weekend passes are £8 and daily fee is £5. Kids under five go free with a paying adult. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster or you can buy tickets at entrance, but it will cost more.

The event runs from 10 am – 6 pm daily.
