"Secondhand" can mean furniture that has been used or it can mean antique furniture. However, you might find secondhand furniture in a thrift store or used furniture store but would need to go to a true antique store for furniture that is considered a "period" or "collector" piece.

If you're like a lot of people, you don't really mind buying secondhand furniture, as long as it's in good condition (some people even like to take pieces that need some work and restore them). You can sometimes find a piece of furniture that fits perfectly with your décor that you weren't able to find new, or you simply have an idea of the type of furniture you like and want to find that particular style. Whatever your reason, there are several places in New York City that sell secondhand furniture.

All Kinda Furniture, 6209 5th Avenue, Brooklyn

This address is the location for the used furniture store of All Kinda Furniture. Here you can find bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, bookcases, drawer chests, lamps, mirrors, and other items. The store is open from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 PM until 7:00 PM. On Sunday, the hours are from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. This gives you plenty of opportunities to shop for the piece of furniture you have been looking for.

Everything Goes Furniture, 17 Brook Street, Staten Island

A short ride on the Staten Island Ferry will get you to Everything Goes Furniture. There you'll find 10,000 square feet of space, all of it filled with furniture you might not see anywhere else. You can buy individual pieces or sets for every room in your house, and even your office. Store hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30 AM until 6:30 PM. Visit often, because new shipments arrive twice a week. If you don't see it the first time, you may see it the next time you come in. If you don't see it then, ask. They'll keep an eye out for what you're looking for.

Green Village Used Furniture and Clothing

Not only can you find used furniture here, you can buy the accessories to go with it. These include such items as lamps, knick-knacks, paintings, and other things. But, what makes this store truly unique is the fact that they invite people who are in charge of stage decoration or scene setting to come in and browse.

Not only do they provide furniture, books, dishes, and other things that can be used as props, but they also have clothing that you can use for costuming or to hang or lie around, giving more depth to your scenes. This can be very helpful to someone who is in charge of school productions, community theatre shows, and other related things.
