The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) is where you'd want to be these school holidays. Offering a vast selection of activities and events, there's definitely something here for everyone. Whether you're a budding screenwriter, filmmaker, actor or simply enjoy being imaginative, I'm sure one (or many) of the creative workshops will catch your eye. What's more, there is a selection of movies and guided tours available here as well.

Intermix Presents: Show Your Own

You can probably call Show Your Own a show and tell; however on a much larger scale. Gather all things creative that you've made, taken, created or shot, and show it on the big screen for your friends and media professionals. I'm talking about things like photos, films, games and graphics that you've produced for school, uni, work or for any other reason. This is a fantastic opportunity for the young creators to show their creative products as well as receive some feedback. Don't miss out on this unique chance![BREAK]

Kids in the Studio: Flip it

Flip it is a free workshop where children get to make their own flip book. There will be a few music video scenes and characters to choose from to feature in their flip book. The youngsters will be amazed as they flip through the book watching characters come to live into a short animation in their little hands![BREAK]

Spectacle Tours with Intermix Guides

Go on a fabulous guided tour of Spectacle: The Music Video Exhibition and hear from exhibition curators, international guests and Australian artists. This is guaranteed to be interesting, informative, and incredible. You'll understand the theories and ideas behind the exhibition, filming techniques and experience the exhibition not like any other. So make sure you take advantage of this rare opportunity.[BREAK]

Kids in the Studio: Space Explorers

Ever dreamed of becoming a super star?

Well now you can. At this green screen holiday workshop, Space Explorers , you get to star in your very own space adventure movie. Travel around space and examine the stars and planets up close before you sit back and relax as you watch the premiere screening of your movie. Be amazed and flabbergasted by your movie star awesomeness as you watch your space explorer movie. You can even take a copy of your movie home to show your family and friends.[BREAK]

Kids in the Studio: Cut it out

The one day workshop, Cut it out will cut out the boredom in your school holidays. Kids will appreciate traditional animation when they're shown the techniques on stop motion animation and taught how to use paper cut outs. Kids can exert their creativity and imagination as they make cut-out characters and learn about the secrets to animation. By the end of the day, kids will have discovered the principles of animation as well as created their very own short animation.[BREAK]

Make a Movie

For all emerging filmmakers, the three day workshop, Make a Movie , is perfect for you. Led by an experienced team, you and your small crew will get together to share your ideas, write a script, and create a storyboard. Then put those words and images into action by acting it all out while learning to direct and operate a camera. After all the acting and shooting, you and your crew will get together at the post-production studio for some cutting and editing. Learn about special effects and how to add them, and come up with the best soundtrack to go with your blockbuster. Then on the last day of the workshop, invited your two besties, walk down the red carpet, and enjoy the film premiere. This is the real thing ladies and gents! [BREAK]

Writing for the Screen
At Writing for the Screen , participants gain an insight to how ideas can be converted into scripts during this full day workshop. So if you're between the ages of 15 to 19 years, and have thought about studying screen writing, then this is for you. This impressive workshop led by qualified professionals will detail the principles and processes in writing for film and television. Gain skills in script writing, learn about narrative structure and how important it is, hear insider secrets to character development, and understand how to create dialogue. This is an excellent opportunity for the budding screenwriters! [BREAK]

Take advantage of the Kids' Flicks program these school holidays. Featuring three, fantastic films suitable for all adults and kids alike, the program will definitely delight and fascinate the masses.

Get into the spirit of Christmas with Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger and take a journey through the Welsh country side, which promises to be exciting, anarchic, and you'll even walk away with a few catchy tunes in your head.

Chimpanzee tells the beautiful story of baby Oscar and how he's come to forge a strong bond with Freddy, the alpha male leader.

And an all-time favourite The Wizard of Oz 3D , will be revelling children and adults alike with this remastered 3D version by Warner Bros.
