Perth has got plenty of beaches, and perhaps once you've seen one beach you've seen them all, but I feel maybe that isn't the case.
Scarborough Beach can be reached using the bus route 400 from Stirling station. It was the second beach I've visited since arriving in Perth, the first being at Fremantle, and has been one of the most pleasant lazy days I've had so far.
Granted I went mid week during August, so perhaps was fortunate enough to catch it at a quiet time, but aside from my group of friends, the beach inspector and group of surfers, we pretty much had a kilometre or so to ourselves.
Just a short walk from the bus stop we got off at there was a variety of fast food and kebab shops for a quick bite, and just opposite the bus stop was a Coles store, handy for grabbing snacks for a picnic on the beach, and a little kiosk selling magazines and newspapers.
With public toilets close by and the odd shop to pick up a few beach accessories we found that everything we needed for an enjoyable afternoon was at hand.
It is a great place to sit back and soak up the rays or watch some of the surfers enjoying the waves.
