I was lucky enough to find this little gem tucked behind Bondi Westfield's on a Saturday morning before the shopping hub had opened. With nowhere else to be, I thought I would find somewhere to sit down and have a coffee and I found Savta Cafe. Very unassuming but perfectly designed to exude a warm and peaceful atmosphere.

Quickly attended to, I sat close to the front and ordered my espresso which arrived promptly. A perfect start to my day with just the right amount of caffeine topped with a delicate creme. Now it's time to peruse the menu with its completely exciting choices. So what to choose from this Israeli inspired menu? The traditional shakshuka with its capsicum, poached eggs, fetta and parsley served with Turkish bread or the equally delicious sounding Naughty French Toast served with the additional twist of spiced ricotta, honey and seasonal fruit. Difficult choice to make but I opted for the very interesting Savta's mezze plate with labne and zatar, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, avocado, hardboiled egg and Turkish bread. I've never had a mezzo plate for breakfast but I think it's a divine idea so that's what I chose.

By this point my sister had joined me, so after much deliberation she chose the traditional Israeli breakfast of herb and cheese omelette served with Israeli salad, lane, zatar, olives and Turkish bread.

When both meals arrived in record time, despite the busyness of this small cafe, we sat in awe at how plentiful and colourful the plates looked. Bright green avocado, fresh Turkish bread, vibrant tomatoes, creamy labne and authentic zatar with a truly generous serving of mushrooms on the side for me as I didn't want the poached egg. I struggled to eat it all but I did because I just couldn't leave any of it behind. My sister felt the same about her omelette.

If you're looking for a cafe with something different to offer with exceptional flavours, generous servings and friendly service then Savta is the cafe for you.
