The Satay House, conveniently located in the Surry Hills district, is an oasis for anyone searching for a little bit of spice and flavor in their life. Named after the traditional Indonesian dish eaten with generous helpings of peanut sauce, guests can dine either at the restaurant in a formal setting, or in authentic Indonesian setting in the cafe.
The restaurant has an air of fine dining to it, while serving humble favorites like Roti Canai (hot cooked flatbread served with chicken curry or veggie dhal) and Mie Goreng Mamak (friend noodles with chicken, sliced tofu, diced tomatoes and boiled egg).
The cafe boasts of quaint Indonesian batik stylings that gives it its charming demeanor and classic look, transporting the visitor right into a Balinese tea house. Appropriately called the Batik Courtyard Cafe, it features an all day breakfast 7 days a week and a full menu from Satay House next door on weekends. Try the Murtabak (folded egg with meat, potatoes and onions) or the Balinese Chicken Salad, but only after a couple of hours at the gym to make it guilt free!
The food at both restaurants is halal and reservations can be made via their website or over the phone.
