The popular
Winter Masterpieces series at the National Gallery of Victoria has become a highlight of each year's program. This year the NGV brings us the first Australian retrospective of one of the world’s most famous surrealists and artists,
Salvador Dali.
Salvador Dali: Liquid Desire opens its doors on the 13th June and runs until 4th October. The exhibition will be open daily from 10am-5pm and until 9pm on Wednesdays. Tickets are $23 for adults, $18 for concession and $11 for children. On Wednesdays students can also gain entry to the exhibition for $11 after 4pm.
The NGV is a short 10 minute walk down St Kilda Road and past the Victorian Arts Centre from Flinders Street Station. There are also a number of
trams you can take which will bring you to the NGV from the city.
The ticket allows you access to more than 200 works by Dali, which span everything from paintings and sculpture to cinema and jewellery. The exhibition will move through the many stages of Dali’s work, from his self-portraits as a young painter to his work as an established artist, including the must-see
Lobster Phone that has become one of the most famous sculptures of the twentieth century. The exhibition will also include the collaborative work of Dali and
Hitchcock, on films such as 'Spellbound'. Many of the works have never been seen before in Australia.
For those who want more information, a
symposium will also be run from 10am to 4.30pm on the opening day. A brochure can be downloaded
