Dancing is one of the few activities which is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of most people. Why is it then that so few people actually take the time to enjoy it?

One of the most fun and easy to learn styles of dancing is Salsa. Salsa is actually a fusion of informal dance styles which has its origin in the Caribbean, in particular Cuba.

Salsa does require a little practice, however one or two lessons are enough to get you going. Putting in a little time and effort will really increase your enjoyment.

Sydney has an abundance of places which offer Salsa lessons.

One place I would recommend is the Sydney Dance Company in Walsh Bay which offers great Latin Beginners classes, along with a myriad of classes in other dance styles. The lessons are mostly casual and always start with the basics so you can attend whenever you are able.

Other companies offering lessons include Latin Dance Australia (Broadway, Glebe), Salsa Republic (near Central Station), Club Salsa (Pyrmont), Strictly Salsa (Surry Hills), and Latin Motion (Sydenham, Balmain, Bondi). If you have a search you are bound to find a dance class near you.

Once you have a few steps down there are any number of Salsa clubs (or clubs with Salsa nights) around Sydney to enjoy. The SydneySalsaScene.com website provides a good guide.


Why? It really is heaps of fun.
