Sadler's Wells is not only one of the most famous dance venues in London, it could even be stretched to arguably be one of the best worldwide. Specialising in dance productions ranging from classical to contemporary, it is possible to see everything from ballet to flamenco to modern contemporary styles within the spacious confines.
Never simply willing to rest on its 300 year plus history, the theatre (now in its sixth incarnation), continues to commission new works, as well as promote lesser known forms to those eager to see what is happening in the world of dance.
Throughout the year an ever changing range of
dance events are presented to dance fans, for some the highlights being the Flamenco festival, where world famous musicians and dancers of the Spanish dance form descend on the venue for more than a week's worth of Flamenco, allowing the depth of the discipline to be shown.
A highlight of the year would of course be the winter season though, where contemporary adaptations of pantomime themes and children's stories are brought to life on stage - this year it is the turn of
The Snowman, and the eagerly awaited
The Nutcracker by leading choreographer Matthew Bourne.
If you are looking for something a little different however, Sadler's Wells also regularly brings events from lesser known styles from around the world, from India to Scotland, Korea to Africa.
So whether you are interested in the cutting edge or the most classical of disciplines, there's bound to be something for you at Sadler's Wells - where the world of dance is brought together for your entertainment.
