Tasty spanish tapas in a comfortable setting
One doesn't often get to go out when you have a new baby around, so when friends invited my partner and I out to dinner, we jumped at the chance, and sent bub off to the babysitter.
Rustico Tapas is a very popular tapas bar, located on the Rockingham foreshore. It's so popular, that tables can only be booked for a 2 hour block most nights. They have also won numerous awards over the past few years, including two Gold Plate Awards and an I Love Food award from Foxtel's Lifestyle Food channel.
When we arrived our table wasn't quite ready, so we were invited to head to the bar and grab a drink. We were greeted by a friendly face on the other side of the bar, and by the time we'd ordered our drinks our table was ready for us.
By the time I ordered my tasty cocktail, named Chocoholic, and my partner ordered a glass of Sangria, our table was ready and we were able to sit down. Our dinner guests joined us shortly after that. My Chocoholic cocktail was delicious and tasty, I had to have a second.
Tapas are traditionally designed to be small portions of food to be shared amongst a group of people, and Rustico's has this idea down pat. Our first round of Tapas included Chorizo with grilled Lime, Fried Goats Cheese, Petit Mignons, Patatas Bravas (cubed potato) and Braised Beef Cheeks. While they didn't all arrive together, being slightly spaced out, meant we could each enjoy all the different flavours without them all going cold before trying.
Chorizo with Grilled Lime
After sitting for a bit, we ordered our second lot of Tapas including Sweet Corn & Cheese Croquettes, Amelia Park Lamb Rumps, Duck 2 Ways and Free Range Pork Belly.
Petit Mignons & Patatas Bravas
All the dishes were beautifully presented, some too good to destroy by eating, and delicious and tasty. I stuffed in more than I could fit because I didn't want to miss out on anything we ordered.

While a trip to Rockingham might be out of the way for some people, if you can venture down that way, I would highly recommend trying Rustico's.
