Running4Research is a
Kids Hospital Appeal fun run that raises funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.
The money donated will go towards research that will lead to faster diagnoses, better treatment and ultimately more cures. But don't let the rather misleading term 'fun run' scare you; there are 10 kilometre, 5 kilometre and 1.5 kilometre tracks to choose from, and you can walk it, jog it or just take a leisurely stroll around the park.
To get involved:
Step 1: Visit the Running4Research website to
register as an individual or as part of a team. If you already have a running group, why not just switch the venue for a day and help a charity while you're getting fit?
Step 2: Be at Roma Street Parklands on 20 June at 8.00am to participate. The track starts and finishes at the Parklands, making it appropriate for all fitness levels.
Step 3: After the race, stick around for some family friendly fun. Prizes will be awarded to the biggest fundraisers and the fastest competitors in each category, plus there will be prize draws throughout the day. Family entertainment is provided in the form of a free sausage sizzle, face painting and jumping castle.
If you're really just not the active type, there are other ways you can help the foundation – see the
Royal Children's Hospital Foundation website for less physical fundraising opportunities.
You can also
make a donation to the foundation or sponsor a runner.
