Rummy Royal Board Game
We have been playing Rummy Royal with a group of friends for years. Every 3 months or so, we gather around a large table, with bottles of wine and platters of food, and prepare for an evening of eating, drinking, bad jokes, gossip and even some card playing. We take it in turns hosting the evening and everyone brings a plate of goodies and their own plonk.
According to ehow.com "The Rummy Royal Board Game is a card game that is also known as Michigan Rummy, Tripoley and, in Europe, Poch. The goal is to play cards in numerical and suit order during the game to win chips from the pot on the playing board. All of the chips may not be won on each hand, however, which makes the stakes grow from from hand to hand."

The beauty of this game (or the way we play it at least), is that you need absolutely no talent as a card player whatsoever. At the beginning of each new round, the player with the best poker hand wins the pot. After that, the game doesn't really resemble any other card game that I know of. It is played on chance not skill thereby allowing for lots of talking and merriment throughout each hand.
Being the high rollers that we are, we play with 5c pieces not chips, costing 50c for each round. You can walk away with as much as $5 more than you came with on a good night! There was even one infamous night years ago where the evenings winner took her fabulous riches of at least $15, bought a new dress, and wore it to the next card night thereby rubbing everyone's noses in it!
Even if you don't want to go to the trouble of buying the game, playing a traditional card is heaps of fun to. We used to play 500 into the early hours. It's a really fun, low cost way to spend entertaining, quality time with friends.
The Rummy Royal board game is readily available on ebay.com with prices starting at around $20.There was even quite a few vintage ones last time I looked. Amazon.com also sells the game.
