It was a fairly cold afternoon, and I was in the mood for Thai for lunch. One of my friends was in the same mood I was in. Only problem was that Bangkok Spice next door was closed, and we have heard a few good things about . Therefore we decided to give them a go.

On first impressions the establishment was quite crowded. It seemed like all the tables and chairs were a bit too close knit. We found ourselves a corner table, to only then move minutes later into more spacious territory right near the window. Despite being a fairly cold day, the breeze coming through was fantastic. Despite maybe being a little bit understaffed, we were served quite quickly. The staff were busy and there were plenty of dishes to clean and tables to wipe over. You could understand why this establishment gets busy - that's right, the prices. Great value lunch for a terrific price.

For only $9 per person, we got to choose an entree out of the spring rolls and curry puffs, as well as a main course from a generous list with a can of soft drink.

We both were in the mood for spring rolls. They were crispy and were starting to fill the spot. The carrot and rocket on the side made way for a presentable dish, and the hot sweet chilli sauce was served in abundance. For mains, my friend went with the red chicken curry, of which looked utterly delicious with obvious spices. The rice looked like a mountain, too much. So glad I opted for the chicken pad thai. The chicken pieces were adequately served. Meaning in other words just the right amount of chicken was served to work in sync with my appetite. The rice was a little too much, I left some of it behind. I am so glad I went for the lemonade. That quenched my thirst, especially after the noodles.

The service was fuss free and fast. We left just before 3pm when they were closing to prepare for dinner. The mood changes here for dinner. White tablecloths fill the tables with a candle on each table.

I will be back, and only if I am in the mood for a cheap, Thai lunch. It would not be an ideal location for a first date - best for a quick, cheap feed alone or with a friend.
