A book sale for the history books, the
Royal Historical Society of Victoria is having their
annual book sale on Saturday 24 June 2017 from 10am to 3pm. There'll be a special member's preview on Thursday 22 June from 5pm to 7pm. Memberships will be sold at the door for those interested in attending the preview night of the book sale. The place to be - Royal Historical Society of Victoria - Royal Australian Army Medical Corps Training Depot, 239 A'Beckett Street, Melbourne. Entry is free.
The book sale held on a Saturday is no coincidence. It celebrates the RHSV's new opening hours which now includes Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, with the exception of public holidays such as the Queen's Birthday, Christmas and New Years.
The historical book sale will feature a huge variety of books, new and secondhand, some signed, in mint condition, rare and/or out-of-print. Subjects include sport, WWI history, biographies, railways, American history, genealogy, local history, Australian history, ancient history and political history. This fundraiser event will have books ranging in prices for you to pick up a bargain, some starting as low as $1.
Of special interest this year are books from the estate of the RHSV's late, esteemed member Doug Gunn. His impressive collection consists of historical books on Victorian local history, bushwalking, wild flora and fauna of Australia, land and sea exploration and most interestingly, his antiquarian book collection.
Visit the RHSV at other times to view exhibitions and collections, utilise the archives, attend lectures and events and much more.
