After a cold winter snuggled up inside, it’s time to celebrate the start of longer days and sunshine with the Royal Botanic Gardens annual
Spring Open Day.
On Sunday 4th October, the
Royal Botanic Gardens will play host to a range of free activities, which will help get you outdoors again. Beginning from 10am until 6pm there will be plenty to see and do, whether you choose to stroll around the grounds, take a picnic while listening to live music or go plant shopping.
The
National Herbarium of Victoria, which is usually not open to the public, will be holding exclusive guided tours over the day. This is a unique opportunity to peek at a few of the million specimens of preserved plant life housed at the herbarium. Bookings are required for this event and can be made through the phone.
Don’t forget to stroll by the
Growing Friends’ nursery to take a look at their bi-annual plant sale and pick up a bargain. The plant sale begins at 10am and ends at 4pm and is located near the works yard. A map can be downloaded
here.
Triple R will also be broadcasting their gardening show live from the Pacific Dunlop Plaza, or simply walk around the grounds and enjoy the flowers coming into bloom- there’s nothing more likely to get you into a happy Spring mood.
