Recently my wonderful wife and I trekked out to the northern reaches of this fair city and found ourselves in a little slice of Camelot – well kind of. In a cheerful housing estate in the midst of Bracken Ridge is an enclave where street names have an Arthurian theme. Here we find reference to some of the lesser known, but just as interesting, knights and ladies of the Pendragon dynasty. Streets such as Gawain, Torre, Pelleas and Geraint remind us of noble knights while Lynette, Bellicent, Ettarre and Lyonors of bewitching damsels.

The major difference of this piece of Camelot to the original is instead of Arthur and Guinevere of the Round Table we have Jeremy and Allie of the lounge ruling supreme over their realm from 3/76 Gawain Road, Bracken Ridge Monday to Friday from 6.00am until 3.00pm and Saturday from 6.00am until 2.00pm.

This new and very attractive coffee and fine food dispenser only opened on the 25 September and is already an entrenched part of the local community. Quite a few of the nick knacks creating the relaxing ambiance of the coffee lounge have been donated by locals who are keen to retain the retro-feel and give their old belongings a new life.

The decor is very enticing for real lovers of relaxation (and who isn't?). The walls are covered in a tremendous spoon collection along with many lively pieces of art and antique gadgets. Then, in the most enticing spot in the place is a big comfy lounge beside a huge bookcase full of books, books and more books and magazines. Among those books is a fantastic collection of travel books – you will probably be able to make the correlation between them and the spoons! Whatever your pleasure there is enough reading material to keep you unperturbed over several cups of delicious coffee.

Speaking of coffee. Once you have taken in your surroundings and picked out which round table you are going to park yourself I can recommend you get yourself a delicious cup of 'Old School Blend', Cleanskin Coffee Co coffee. While you're there throw in a piece of delicious cake and pay a mere $9 for the lot. An even better idea would be to turn up between 12.30 to 1.30 pm on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday and join the locals in the Happy Cake Hour. You will save between 10% and 30% on the price of all cakes and slices – that's worth a gallop over on the mighty steed!

If gourmet coffee isn't your thing they also stock a large range of soft drinks, iced teas and, most interestingly, Benchmark, Coldpress coffee at prices ranging from $2.00 to $4.40. In case you're wondering, Benchmark Coldpress is a new, all natural iced coffee that comes in a bottle. According to the advertising it has a non-acidic essence and is lightly sweetened with Obi Obi milk; enough said! The other interesting point made in the advertising is it is only available in 'trendy cafes'; says everything about Round Table Coffee.

To help calm the hunger bug Jeremy and Allie have a wide selection of cakes and slices ranging in price from $4.80 to $6.80 (less during Happy Cake Hour). If you're after something more substantial they also stock fresh sandwiches and wraps priced from just $5.80 to $6.20. This is just the spot for that quiet cuppa and cake with friends where there is plenty of variety on offer and wonderful friendly service.

Parking is easy as there are usually plenty of spots on the street out front and an entire car park out the back.

If you like an excellent cup of coffee with something sweet then this nice, quiet little spot is just right. You'll be able to catch up with friends or simply stop and enjoy the moment while you relax and re-caffeinate the inner you.

Unfortunately Merlin still needs to add a bit of magic to the web site but it is expected to be on-line early in December, 2014 and will then be available here . Until then you can find out everything with one call to Jeremy and Allie on 3261 2354.

provides a place to rest, relax and enjoy the most important pleasures available to us – an excellent coffee served with something sweet by friendly and helpful people.
