In recent years, outdoor movie events have grown in popularity, with parks across the capital erecting large screens for your cinematic delight.
With the demand for such events clearly in existence, more and more venues have been looking at different ways to attract movie lovers to summer screenings.
The
Queen of Hoxton, a pub/bar/art collective in London's East End, doesn't have a park of its own so instead has come up with the novel idea of placing a cinema on its roof.
Grab some food and drink from downstairs and then make your way upstairs to the Rooftop Film Club.
The film club promises comfortable seating for all who attend its almost daily screenings. Sound comes not from loudspeakers but from wireless headphones handed out to attendees. The best thing about the headphones is that you won't need to listen to that annoying person behind you giving away the plot.
And there's always someone who takes half an hour to get into a packet of crisps before noisily munching their way through it for the next 60 minutes. No, with the headphones, you can enjoy the sound up close and personal, right down your lug-hole in it's purest form, exactly how the director meant for you to hear it. Perfect!
Screenings run through the summer until the end of September and include new releases as well as classics.
Upcoming movies include, for example, Saturday Night Fever, Reservoir Dogs, The King's Speech, Life is Beautiful, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
