We all love a little bit of romance in our lives, but all too often it eludes us. That's probably why half of all fiction stories are romances, and why movies, television and novels based on this theme are so popular.

Take The Notebook for example, or Titanic, or Romeo and Juliet. All are highly popular tales told during different times, but, more importantly, all are epic love stories. What better way is there to experience a love-specific narrative, filled with dashing heroes and gorgeous women, than to delve into a good old romance, where the girl always gets her man and true love always finds its way.

Even contemporary romances such as Twilight, and, (dare I say it) 50 Shades Of Grey, are popular, simply because the genre takes hold of romantic aspirations that some people wish they could replicate in their own lives.

Although the romance novel sector is densely populated, I'm sure any true fans of the genre will have heard of New York Times bestselling author, Stephanie Laurens, and the highly popular Melbourne writer of paranormal romance, Keri Arthur. These best-loved authors, along with Anne Gracie, Marion Lennox, Fiona Lowe, biographer Jennifer Kloester, and a host of others will be appearing at Romance By The Sea, a literary festival for romance readers and writers.

To be held on Saturday 8th September at the historic Queenscliff Hotel , the day will commence at 10am with an introduction and greeting from the coordinator of the event, followed by presentations from some of the author guests about different aspects of the romance genre. A light lunch will be provided, and then the presentations will continue until the close of the festival at 5pm.

Throughout the day, guests will also be able to speak to their favourite romance authors, get copies of their books signed, listen to readings and enter a raffle. Although this is only a one-day festival, some of the authors will also be hanging around Queenscliff on Sunday 9th September, signing books and chatting with those interested in learning more about their lives and loves.

But this event isn't only going to benefit those who love to read and write romance- a majority of the money raised from ticket sales will go to Cottage By The Sea , a children's charity based in Queenscliff, which has been helping disadvantaged children and their families since 1890. This not-for-profit organization gives children in need a supportive camp experience where they can develop positive attitudes and strengthen their wellbeing, all within a calming seaside environment.

Romance By The Sea Festival tickets cost $100 and cover the whole day (lunch included). Furthermore, $70 of the ticket cost will be receipted as a tax deductible donation to Cottage By The Sea, so you don't need to feel guilty about spending all of that money to indulge in your romantic interests- you're also helping a fantastic cause.
Bookings can be made at www.romancebythesea.net or you can phone SeaViewGallery in Queenscliff, during business hours, at (03) 5258 3645.

If you're a huge fan of romance novels, and if you particularly love the attending authors, then this event is not to be missed.
