My very favourite part of clubbing when I was younger was the dancing, however I wasn't really that fussed on the drinking, the uncomfortable clothing, the late nights or the painful heels. Instead I spend most weekends now engaging in various activities designed to work on my fitness. That is why I was so excited when my hairdresser introduced me to RockIt Fit Rave. Basically she explained it as an exercise session in a club, with a DJ and various alcohol-free healthy shots.

I knew this was something I was going to love so when the next session came around I immediately started scoping out friends to come with me and after securing a bestie, we jumped online to buy our tickets. I'm glad I was so fast moving because the event sold out pretty darn quickly and I would have been devastated if we had missed out.

The session we booked was to be held at Oh Hello! in Fortitude Valley at 6pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived in and walked to the venue in our joggers, stretchy pants and sports bras, contrasting greatly to all the other superb looking women in their Little Black Dresses and killer heels floating around this nightclub filled suburb.

Once we entered the building we went straight over to the bar to enjoy a shot of some deliciously melon-tasting liquid, before finding our position on the dance floor. Tammi, the lady in charge, was not hard to spot in the crowd; her energy filled up the space as she welcomed all her guests with smiles and big hugs. This extreme energy never died down once when she was on stage, in fact I've never meet someone whose energy can transfer itself to everyone else in the room like hers so effortlessly did.

The class started with some basic warm ups and stretches and then it progressed into a series of cardio-pumping dance steps. Throughout the night we perfected a short routine that was intertwined with fat-burning moves. Even though learning any dance steps requires come repetition it never got boring because Tammi would break up the moves with what felt like 100 squats and hours of running full-pelt on the spot (however I suspect that both occurred over less than one song- but tell my legs that).

All of this wonderful moving and shaking occurred whilst lights and smoke machines flashed all around us, perfectly in sync with the pumping tunes supplied by the DJ. I literally felt like I was out clubbing, except that this was more comfortable and way more fun (plus I should have firmer legs now).

After our evening of exercise, we were all treated with pineapple cocktails (again sans alcohol), protein donuts and bags of yummy popcorn.

If this sounds like your kind of night out make sure you like the RockIt Fit Rave Facebook page to stay up to date regarding these little events, because once the tickets go on sale you can know they will sell out quick.
