is the creation of partners - Joel Butler, Johnny Broadfoot and Ben Beau. Opening only six months ago, together they have transformed what was once the old Darley Road Post Office at Eastern Hill into an uber cool Cafe. Open 7 days for breakfast and lunch, weekdays from 6.30am - 2pm and weekends from 7am - 2pm.

I almost missed the cafe while driving up Darley road in Manly, but the red signage and sandwich menu caught my eye.

Instantly I could see clever thought and remarkable talent had gone into the design of the interior. The decor oozed character. All three owners are skilled carpenters as well as great cooks. They have custom-made the interior fit out along with most of the furnishings - in fact they also have a business in selling the pieces that feature in the cafe.

Savvy timber-work is prominent throughout this unpretentious cafe, adding warmth and familiarity.

A collection of artfully mismatched retro and vintage pieces are enhanced by the recycled floorboards and a feature wall of artistically exposed brick work.

.

You can pull up a high stool at the open window ledge and watch the locals wander by, or make some new friends at the communal table.

Failing that, you can sit at the stools along the bar and chat to one of the friendly owners or just enjoy a magazine.

The rest of the seating consists of a couple of comfy retro armchairs. Just the spot to recline while sipping the perfect espresso.

I was eyeing a lovely Bentwood Antique dining chair that had a unique design. It would have been a prize to buy. Other quirky art pieces, like the row of vintage movie theatre seats added to the collection.

The space provided the perfect showroom for their range of eclectic collectibles.

I was by now getting hungry. I sat down at a side timber bench table and checked out the menu.

Breakfast options such as Egg Soldiers and Mean Beans on Toast brought me back to gran's kitchen. But of course you could order a bacon and egg roll to soak up the boozy night before or maybe healthy seaside salmon with smashed avocado, crumbled feta, rocket on sourdough.

Mouth drooling and tummy growling I almost wished I had been here for breakfast instead. I cut to the chase asking what was popular for lunch. Joel suggested I would enjoy the Reuben which was a large sambo of sliced corned beef, melted swiss cheese, sauerkraut and russian dressing on sourdough rye. He warned me that I might find it quite filling. After lunch I was planning to go to a nearby beach - visions of budda belly flashed in my mind so I chose the Lamb Sambo and a fresh cold pressed juice instead .

The roll was toasted and bursting with filling. Shredded tender lamb melted in my mouth and the fresh cold pressed juice was delicious.

The 2pm closing time was fast approaching and I could see a few others patrons busy on their computers enjoying the free Wifi and their last coffee. Do note that coffee addicts can be assured of a great brew as beans are from Background Speciality Coffee Roasters in Brookvale. The flavour of their Direct Blend has a high level of complexity, distinctive smoothness and sweetness guaranteeing a perfect cup.

My conclusion is that is the perfect cafe to grab some breaky or lunch before hitting the beach, so check it out soon.
