If you like animals, camping or if you are simply looking for an exotic adventure within the confines of the city, then why not try spending a night at
Melbourne Zoo, as part of their
Roar 'n' Snore experience. It will be a unique and fun filled night, that you will remember long after the final roar.
If you choose to take part in
Roar 'n' Snore, your journey will begin in the afternoon. You will be taken to your campsite, which will be set up in the old elephant enclosure. Take the time to set up your tent with your pillow and sleeping bag, and if you brought along a few midnight snacks for the night ahead, you can stash those in your tent as well. You will then be given some time to meet your fellow campers and your tour guides as you wait eagerly for your dinner to be prepared. The dinner is a buffet and drinks are also included. Dinner is served where the elephants once slept. However, since the elephants relocated to their new home, the area has been tastefully refurbished with Asian decor and dinner in itself is a worthwhile experience.
After a satisfying meal, you will begin a tour of
Melbourne Zoo where you will have the opportunity to feed some of the animals. As the sun begins to set, you will begin a night walk and you will have the opportunity to meet some of the nocturnal birds and reptiles that only become active at night. For those of you who may be scared of snakes - be prepared to get up close and personal with one or two.
Once you have finished the night walk, your guides will lead you back to the
Roar 'n' Snore campsite and you will be able to start getting ready for bed. Be prepared for a long night ahead, as every shadow, every sound will keep you on the edge. Let's put it this way - there will be a lot more roaring and not much snoring, but relax, you will be totally safe. Lie back and listen to the unique orchestra of amazing animal sounds that you won't be able to experience anywhere else in Melbourne.
After the long night you have just experienced, you will wake up in the morning to a delicious continental breakfast, You will then have the opportunity to meet and feed a few more animals, and this is where your
Roar 'n' Snore journey officially comes to an end. However, feel free to continue to explore the zoo at your leisure while you reminisce about your thrilling night-time adventure.
