River Torrens

Home > Adelaide > Outdoor
Published June 8th 2011
The River Torrens is one of the most iconic area's in all of Adelaide city and strangely one of the most overlooked. Taking a walk around the river is quite relaxing but if like me you're a real kid at heart, the paddle boats are going to be your first stop.

Slowly floating down the river while taking in Adelaide in all her beauty, gives you time to think about the big things in life, like where is life taking me and did I leave me phone on the side of this paddle boat? Bicycles are also available to hire and allow you to travel much further but if you get easily distracted it would be ideal to wear swimmers.

So what do you do once you have gotten your daily exercise? Have a cool down, of course and a short walk around the festival center will stimulate your artistic side. With plenty of art work for you to discover, hunting them all down may take some time.

The local cafes are a great spot to have a break and have plenty of food and drinks. I would however recommend that you sit further away from any speakers, quite often one of the cafes has a quite unusual collection of music. Also sitting on the grass is a lot more in setting with the rhythm of your Morning. But if you truly want to go that extra mile for you special person you might want to consider bringing a picnic basket.

The Torrens in the city makes for some cheap fun and holds a lot more secrets than at first glance and features well as a starter to a good day.
