Calling all wannabe Torvill and Deans. It's almost time to get your skates on, grab your family and friends and head down to River Rink in Fed Square.
The River Rink returns on Saturday 1 July 2017 to Sunday 23 July 2017 and River Terrace will once again be turned into a magical winter wonderland. The open air rink, with the Yarra River and the gorgeous Melbourne skyline as a backdrop, will come alive with tunes pumping as you go for a spin.
For first timers or if you are feeling a bit wobbly, you can hire a 70cm high skating penguin from the Box Office to help you stay on your feet. There are a limited number available so first come first served. You'll be spinning, twirling and performing figure eights before you know it.
To maintain your energy levels and to keep warm, there will be plenty of food and hot drinks available all throughout the season.
It is recommended that you wear a helmet, gloves, thick socks and warm, comfortable clothes. Children under 10 years of age must wear a helmet and children under 5 years of age must be accompanied on the ice by an adult at all times.
Sessions will go ahead even in wet weather, unless of course the conditions are unsafe. So if it is wet, maybe bring along an extra pair of socks and spare jeans/trousers to avoid finishing off with a wet behind. Either that or don't fall down!
Pre-sale tickets will be available from 9am Thursday 1 June until 8am Monday 5 June. To receive a 10% discount simply click here and enter the code SKATE01. This discount is only available during the pre-sale, so get in quick.
As an added bonus, why not skate and sky? Purchase a ticket to River Rink and you will have the opportunity to receive a 20% off admission voucher to Eureka Skydeck.
For a bit of inspiration, why not grab yourself a copy of Blades of Glory to watch it this weekend and get ready to join in some wonderful winter fun.
