Maybe you ride into work every morning. Maybe you've got a bike collecting dust on your back verandah. Maybe you've just bought a new bike but you're unsure about hitting the busy city streets. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newbie,
Ride2Work Day is the perfect excuse to hop on your bike and start your daily commute in a healthier, more enjoyable, and more environmentally friendly way.
This year's Ride2Work Day is being held on October 15th. It's possible that your university or workplace is holding a special get together, but if not you can come along and join in the
free community event held at Mukata (Hindmarsh Square).
There will be a free breakfast on offer to all riders, but there are a couple of other cool things on offer. You can get a free bike fit from the Australian Physiotherapy Association, get legal advice from Andersons Solicitors, or safety advice from SAPOL. Giant and Roof Rack City will also be there showing off their goods. Just by turning up you'll go in the running to win the door prize, accommodation at one of Adelaide's Mantra Hotels.
Ride2Work day is the perfect way to introduce yourself to the idea of a bike commute. You don't have to take part in the free event to participate, just hop on your bike and you'll already be doing some good. There are plenty of reasons why
riding to work is a great idea, and as Adelaide becomes more bike friendly hopefully we'll be seeing a bit more of it.
Whether you're on a fixie, a road bike, or a dutch cycle--hopefully you'll be peddling your way to work on October 15th.
For more information on Ride2Work day check out the
Bicycle Network website , or check out
BikeSA for info on the breakfast. The University of Adelaide and the City of Salisbury will also be putting on free breakfasts for bike commuters.
