If you find yourself in the food court area at Sydney's The Star for any reason, and you're not in the mood for any Asian cuisine - you have found your perfect food spot. For a simple lunch or dinner with ample amounts of protein, Ribs & Burgers delivers.

An ideal location to come to before heading inside the Lyric Theatre. Came here for dinner with a friend the other night before seeing a show there. The experience was perfection.

Bistro style, you order at the front counter and you're then handed a pager to come and collect your food as soon as it goes off. Not served on plates but rather a wooden chopping board begins to make this experience somewhat unique. That while sitting in a nearby closed in an opulent seating area with sparkles and black decor.

My friend ordered a rack of beef ribs ($21) that came with cabbage salad. Fairly hungry, she devoured the ribs and commented on how great the flavours were. Apparently, their ribs are marinated and cooked for eight hours. After that, they are then char grilled, basted and caramelised.

Customers who order this dish can choose between chips or cabbage salad. My friend said she made a wise decision to enjoy the cabbage salad last. The ribs can be a little messy to eat. On that note have some tissues nearby. There is no need to go the full monty and wear a dentist patient like bib like you have to at some rib places in order to enjoy. They're not that messy here. You naturally need to wash your hands afterwards. He friend was happy drinking some coke zero, while I went for some lemon, lime and bitters in a weird, retro style bottle.

I ordered something from the Ribs and Burgers butchers choice burger range. The steak roll ($18) with grain fed sirloin, baby oak lettuce, tomato, grilled onion and pickles with pink and BBQ sauce was the perfect choice for my taste buds at the time. The burger was utterly filling to just grab and eat. It did not feel right. I took out the contents and laid them across my 'chopping board' plate and devoured them like I would a normal meal. The sauce has a weird, interesting taste - yet it blended in nicely with the bread. A generous serving of meat is provided. Just the right amount without feeling bloated at the end.

Fresh ingredients were enjoyed. The steak was cooked medium. This is the default style their meats are cooked in unless requested otherwise. It is great to know that the meat is free range, hormone and anti-biotic free. The difficulty is in deciding what to choose. A simple dinner, and a choice well made on this occasion. If you can, enjoy your dessert at Adriano Zumbo's dessert train next door. Apparently macarons, coconut and cherry cake blends in nicely with well-cooked steak.
