The
Restorers Barn is one of those places that it's terribly hard to drag yourself away from as you browse through an enormous collection of old wares, antiques, collectables and everyday items from decades past.
It's the sort of place where you might reasonably expect to pick up a left-handed screwdriver or a can of black & white chequered paint.
Opened in October 1994 the Restorers Barn is a veritable Aladdin's Cave.
For some, it can also be a slightly sobering experience as you find countless items that you grew up with are now considered relics or collectables.
The building which houses the Restorers Barn is just as interesting as its contents. Originally a furniture store erected in 1856-57 it became the Mt Alexander Hotel in 1863 and then an ironmongers and grocers in 1907. At some point, the building was extended by the addition of part of the old Campbell's Creek Brewery to the rear of the existing structure.
If you're looking for gates, doors, china, brassware, tools, kitchenware or furniture then the Restorers Barn with its vast range of collectables and fittings, both genuine and reproductions, is the place for you.
Run by Ian and Stephanie Ellis, the olde-worlde charm of the Restorers Barn compliments Mostyn Streets historic goldfields streetscape.
