Originally released back in 2005, Rent is a film based on Jonathan Larson's award winning rock opera about a group of eight 20 somethings living in New York.

Starring Rosario Dawson, Taye Diggs, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Jessie L Martin (better known for his role on Law & Order), Idina Menzel (whose most famous role was the original Elphaba in Wicked), Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Tracie Thoms, the story is about living with AIDS and just above the poverty line. Some of the movie stars were actually part of the original stage production.

Mark Cohan (Rapp), a struggling filmmaker, and Roger Davis (Pascal), an ex-band frontman living with AIDS given to him by his ex girlfriend, are room mates who are about to be kicked out by their new landlord Benjamin Coffin III (Diggs), who used to be their best friend and roommate, because they are very behind on their rent. Also on the verge of eviction in Mimi Marquez (Dawson) who works at the local strip club, has AIDS due to a drug addiction, and is trying to get Roger to notice her and go on a date.

Also struggling with the debilitating disease are couple Tom Collins (Martin) and Angel Dumott Schunard (Heredia). Angel doesn't survive the disease which brings about a division amongst the group of friends. Circumstances bring the remaining friends back together to celebrate what Angel bought to their lives.

With songs like "Rent", "Light My Candle", "Another Day" and "Seasons of Love" Rent is a fast moving film that keeps you engaged throughout the entire movie.
