While there are many alternative healing modalities available to us, some have been successfully practised for centuries and have greater healing potential than others. Qi Gong (pronounced Chee Goong), I recently discovered at a healing session with Daryll Mitchell at the Renascent College of Intuitive Sciences, has the ability to heal at a very deep, organic level.

To put it into a more understandable perspective, Qi Gong, along with Massage, Chinese Herbalism and Acupuncture, is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These ancient healing methods operate on the same underlying principles of Yin and Yang and the five principle elements of fire, wood, water, earth and metal.

While Qi Gong can be practised in classes, which are also offered at the tranquil space at Renascent's healing centre in a serene bush setting in Warrandyte, you can also experience Qi Gong in a one-to-one session with the highly intuitive and knowledgeable Daryll, whose own health challenges early in life lead him on a quest for healing both himself and subsequently many others.

With roots in the martial arts in 1970s and formally trained in Traditional Chinese Medical understandings in Australia and the Orient since 1995, Darryl practices Qi Gong, and a range of
other techniques to balance Qi or 'vital force' for a more positive, uplifting and joyous quality of life.

Well, it certainly had an incredible impact on mine. Using both light touch and no touch, Daryll was able to assess which of my organs had strong or weak Qi and then went about facilitating a healthier, stronger flow of energy through my body.

It's hard to explain unless you experience it. I was very aware of energy changing and moving throughout my body. Certain areas tingled, pulsated a little or generally 'spoke to me'. By that I mean that I became very aware of them; the particular areas in need of a little extra TLC became much more present.

For many days after the session, and still now a week later, I have slept much more deeply, feel more energised, centred, grounded and stronger in my own self.

Not having studied Qi Gong, I don't fully understand all the theory, but I don't need to as I trust my experiences - and Daryll. I also know I experienced a very powerful and profound shift in my physical, emotional and spiritual energy - and a positive re-direction along a better path. I'll have me some more of that!
