Celebrate International Women's Day and help women struggling through a difficult time by attending the Redlands Centre for Women Annual High Tea.
The High Tea is an opportunity to be inspired by a motivational guest speaker, enjoy a fashion parade, do some shopping, listen to music, win lucky door and raffle prizes, but, most importantly, to support an organisation that supports women who are going through trying times.
The guest speaker is
Carren Smith of Quantum Leadership Group. Goods for sale include jewellery, chocolates, lingerie, skin care products, candles and hair accessories.
The high tea supports the work of the Redlands Centre for Women, a not-for-profit organisation, formerly known as
Pink Pamper Packs. The Centre helps to support women in the Redlands by assisting them to receive support and mentorship.
Pink Pamper Packs started in 2008 when Katrina Beutel was challenged by her church to grow $100 into more money that could be used to help the community. Katrina and some friends held a high tea fundraiser and used the funds to put together pamper packs of goodies that could be given to women going through a difficult time.
The first high tea was attended by more than 200 people, and the $100 'grew' into $6,000. Two packs were handed out every week for the first year, by which time there was no doubt that the project should continue.
The packs are beautifully presented gift hampers that include beauty products, vouchers, decadent food and other items that bring joy to the face of a woman who is struggling. Women who receive the packs include; women suffering isolation, depression or marital problems; new mothers, women who are deserving of a thank you for doing much for others; or women who could do with a special treat at a difficult time in their lives.
The vision for the Centre emerged from the Pink Pamper Packs as a result of the recognised need to provide additional support for women in the Redlands. The Centre runs a young parent programme, hosts coffee chat nights, organises self-esteem programmes and continues to distribute the pamper packs.
