Event: 18/09/2010
Hear Ye Hear Ye Hear Ye! The annual celebration of European settlement at Redcliffe is due to take place on the weekend of 18 and 19 September. Redcliffe First Settlement Festival has events for all ages and tastes ranging from arts and crafts exhibitions, food and wine at the Seaside Kitchen, rock 'n' roll at the Jailhouse Rock Stage and the Redcliffe Superboat Grand Prix.

On Saturday, Jamieson Park at Scarborough is the place for foodies with Seaside Kitchen taking place. Featuring chefs from local restaurants including Morgan's Seafood Restaurant and Teppanyaki Room, Moreton Bay Boat Club Harbourside Restaurant and Danny's Scarborough Beach Restaurant, the cooking demonstrations will be hosted by My Kitchen Rules participants, Tanja and Gen. The Redcliffe Heritage Arts and Crafts Exhibition will take place at the Seaside Artists Gallery between 10am – 12 noon on Sunday.

Sunday starts with the Big Bayside Brekkie at any of the participating cafes on Redcliffe Parade then travel through time to the 1920s for the Great Gatsby Picnic or to the 1950s and indulge your inner Elvis as the Jailhouse Rock Stage. Think you have a few treasures buried in the cupboard under the stairs or want to start an antiques collection? Come along to the Precious Treasures Antiques Feature between 8am and 4pm on Sunday at Convict Alley. A valuer will be on hand between 11am and 2pm.

Between 11:30am and 1pm on Sunday enjoy 21st Century Action with the running of the 2010 Redcliffe Superboat Grand Prix which will feature over 20 boats racing at speeds up to 250km/hr. The race can be viewed from Redcliffe's foreshore between Scott's Point and Osbourne Point.

The heart of the Redcliffe First Settlement Festival is the re-enactment of the landing of the Brig Amity in 1824 on the shores of Redcliffe Beach heralding the first European settlement in Queensland with 14 soldiers and 29 convicts. Convicts is the theme for the 2010 festival and as well as the landing re-enactment, two other major events support the theme. Find Felix! Treasure Hunt for Kids and Were Your Ancestors Convicts? take place on Sunday 19th September. Kids can search for the bones of Felix, a convict who went missing one day never to be seen or heard from again and adults can spend some time searching historical records to find if there are any convict skeletons in the family closet. Come dressed as a convict on Sunday and be in the running for a prize.

Redcliffe Parade is home to many cafes and food outlets and barbecues are available at Settlement Cove Lagoon. On both days, park at the Redcliffe Showgrounds and catch the shuttle bus to festival events. A bus connection at Sandgate or Petrie Train Stations is the public transport option for attending this event.
