It was the Sea and Vines weekend, but the event wasn't in the program. Laura Hill at Red Poles. I wanted to go. And we went.
There was a smokey fire on the grass, red wine to warm the insides, and yummy food ordered to fulfill all my winery visit requirements. Prices are not cheap, but it's worth it.

The best part was the open space for the kids to run around. A dirt hole, resembling a mini derby track was close to the lawn area. The kids were, without a nudge, off playing with others, running up and down the sides, sticking twigs and dirt in old tyres, and playing catch in between the trees.

We ordered another round. It was perfect. No whining at the table, asking for more food, or asking to go, or wanting company in the dirt. We were left in peace to enjoy the sounds of Laura Hill. Her voice and guitar, so consuming without 'the annoying sound in the back of the car' sound from kids becoming bored. They were so entertained, the colouring kit we bought was left untouched. Time passed quickly, and before we knew it, dusk was upon us.

So, where to next? I've heard Gemtree has a playground. Perhaps that will be our next stop. It's good to see wineries, and cellar doors, becoming more child friendly. Tapping into a market that is more than willing to sit over a glass of wine or two while the kids happily play. Some would say it's a very lucrative market they tap into. Smart people.
