When parents, people power, and art come together, exciting things start to happen. And in this case exciting things have been happening for 36 years with the dedication of the Red Hill Consolidated School & members of the local Peninsula art community. This fundraising event (ARH), is the event of the year, not to be missed on the Peninsula, at the local school hall.

It is the premier art show of the season, and coordinator, Marlo Reyneke, states, " Our art show is once again showcasing artists from both the local, thriving art community and from around Australia. Visitors can see, experience and buy hundreds of artworks across many mediums – hanging art covering painting & photography, incredible sculpture, stunning glass work and ceramics, and wearable art in the form of beautiful jewelry
and textiles."

Oh dear, I feel my bank account is in strife and I am excited about it (although I am not sure about how my hubby feels).

And if you are not aware of this area, you will be after this event, as the Peninsula and especially Red Hill attracts thousands of visitors over the first weekend in May.

Why?

Because, the weather is glorious, the air is crisp, and the autumn leaves are vibrant reds playing off the crystal blue waters of the bay. It is basically art with every eye full. And the wineries along they trip offer some stunning Pinot Noir wine, due to the cool climate and sunny slopes of the area.

It is the perfect time to enjoy a fab lunch, art, then head to the local beach for a walk in the sand.

Pt Leo, just around the corner, is a superb location to twinkle your toes in the sand, build a sand castle, or if you are more brave, venture into the stunning waters.

So first, you get to see the wonderful artistic work of the children at Red Hill Consolidated School and other famous artists, and then visit the Art Cafe, offering fabulous local coffee, snacks & lunches, and finally get a visit to the pristine beach.

This is a trifecta win for a day, if ever I have experienced one. And it is less than an hour drive from Melbourne. Time to set up your sat navs for 341 Arthur's Seat Rd, Red Hill, 3937, which is the Red Hill Consolidated School. And don't forget to raid your savings.

Or you could go to the beach in the afternoon and go to the official, gala Opening Night FRIDAY, 29TH APRIL, 2016 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm. This event is an over 18 years of age event and is $25 if you book online, or $30 at the door. It include canapes and live music and a chance to meet new friends.

For Saturday and Sunday, the art exhibition is open from 10 am to 4 pm for only $5.00 with kids FREE.
