I am not a betting man, but I am willing to wager that if you are a coffee lover, you are also partial to chocolate. Big call I know, but being a writer is all bout courting controversy (*switches off sarcasm filter*).

Now, imagine a place where you could have a beautifully crafted coffee from some of South Australia's best roasters and ALSO a chocolate which complements that particular brew. Wonder no more my caffeine hungry friends, for Red Cacao up in Stirling has turned you wonders into a reality.

Once again down a little side alley (seems to be where all the awesome places are popping up) you will happen across a quaint little table and chair set up. If your lucky the small grassed area outside will also have a few chairs, sun permitting. It is around this time your nose will pick up on the sweet smells lingering out from a small little shop front. From here on in your nose is in charge - so just go with it.

A long glass cabinet greets you as you walk in the single door, filled with a large array of specialist chocolates all expertly made on premises. Owner and choclatier Marcus is a softly spoken and humble young man, taking great pride in his work. After asking just a few questions Marcus knew what chocolate would be best for my taste bud, picking a shiraz infused dark chocolate. He was right.

The coffee menu was filled with options - a baristas blend or a bevy of single origins from the likes of Coffee Barun, Goat Candy and some other roasters based in the Hills. I opted for the PNG Karuga Pit single origin from Goat Candy. Marcus described the flavour of the coffee as s'syrupy and blueberries'. Again, he was right. Great coffee, and proof that one does not need the latest $18,000 coffee machine to pull a great shot.

As I was leaving (after purchasing some chocolates to take with me - for a friend....I swear....cough) I noticed that Red Cacao won this years 'Best Dessert Bar' in the SA Food and Catering Awards. I couldn't agree more with that accolade.
