Looking to get out of the house and also out of the rain? Head to the Logan Art Gallery on Wembley Road.
Currently they are exhibiting a number of different works, so they is something to appeal to everyone. The Recycled Library follows the history of altered books in Australia. One that I particularly found fascinating involved a boat that disappeared into the book depending on the angle that you viewed it from. It also includes sculptures, collages and photographs.
Local artist Nicola Hooper also has work on display with her series called
Mia Prosapia. It includes delicate and beautifully detailed prints, paintings and drawings showing the connection between plants, insects and human form.
My tweenie loved the series by comic and graphic artist, Rob Corless. Here we found digital works featuring Kiko, and her fantasy world of dragons and robots. A favourite was the robot fairy. All the prints and paintings are vividly coloured and appealing.
In the children's gallery, the kids can be inspired by the porcelain 'paper' planes of Pamela Crossley. They are able to also try their hand at creating their own plane and the gallery supplies all materials for little aspiring airplane designers.
This visit was done on the spur of the moment, but is well worth an hour or more of your time. The exhibition is only on display until the 18th of February. But I will definitely be returning to see what they put up next.
