Recreate is a creative reuse community project of the not-for-profit group the Mount Pleasant Natural Resource Centre Inc.This Spring, Recreate is hosting series of interactive creative workshops with talented artists Yvonne Dalton and Sarah Kibble from Honest Earth. Each workshop is open to all skill levels (beginners are most welcome). Come and learn how to upcycle and make a variety of creative wares for yourself and friends and family in a social and inspiring atmosphere!For what's on this Spring, please see below and click on the links for further information:
Recreate Jewellery Sunday 16th October, 9:45am for 10am start – 4 pmCost: $65/ personAdult / young adult workshop, age 14 & #43 ;All materials providedIncludes tea, coffee & light refreshmentsJoin textile artist Yvonne Dalton for a composite jewellery making workshop using an array of upcycled materials. Learn how to combine techniques such as macramé, wrapping, stitching and French knitting to create unique wearable art. A great range of recycled materials from the recreate store will be available to incorporate & embellish your jewellery piece. This workshop will give you the skills and confidence to complete many more wonderful jewellery pieces using a variety of reclaimed materials.
Recreate Kokedama & Vertical Gardens with Sarah Kibble from Honest Earth Saturday 5 November 2016, 1:15pm for 1:30pm start - 5:30pm. Cost: $70/ personAdult / young adult workshop, age 14 & #43 ;Participants to bring close fitting garden gloves, wire cutters, and a hammer. All other materials and tools provided. Tea, coffee & light refreshments provided.Sarah Kibble from Honest Earth will be leading participants on a garden making adventure. Learn the art of making Kokedamas (Japanese Moss Balls). You will also learn how to make a simple macramé hanger for your Kokedama. Participants will then learn how to construct a vertical garden using an upcycled picture frame.
Recreate Mosaic Design & Create Session 1: Sunday 6th November, 9:45am for 10am start – 4 pmSession 2: Sunday 13th November, 9:45 for 10am start - 12noonCost: $100/ person for the two daysAdult / young adult workshop, age 13 & #43 ;Participants to bring workers gloves, safety glasses, and a garden stone (approx. dinner plate size), & any special pieces of crockery / tiles you have been saving (optional). If you don't have a nice rock we will have some to choose from on the day. All other materials provided. Includes tea, coffee & light refreshments.Upcycling a range of recycled broken crockery & tile offcuts, you will learn two different mosaic techniques. Participants will make a mosaic 'crazy' paver using a 'quick' technique that is perfect for reusing lots of broken crockery and assorted tiles to fill your garden with stepping stones. The second piece will enable you to develop your own mosaic design and learn techniques to create your own creature feature mosaic rock.The second session will enable both pieces to be grouted & finished. This workshop will give you the skills and confidence to complete many more wonderful mosaic pieces for your home and garden.
Recreate Bird Home Garden SculptureSunday 20th November 2016, 9:45am for 10am start – 4 pmCost: $65/ person. Adult / young adult workshop, age 13 & #43 ;Participants to bring close fitting leather gloves and safety glasses. All other materials and tools provided. Tea, coffee & light refreshments provided.Led by artist Yvonne Dalton you will learn a range of tool use & cold-connect techniques including pop-rivets, drilling, driving & wire twitching to create a fabulous native bird nest box.
