Read a Book

According to the Australian Government Council for the Arts, reading is the 'favourite activity for about 61 per cent of Australians aged 15 years and over, according to a 2006 survey by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.'

I agree with this as I make up that amount of the statistic calculations. Reading is a way to get out of the rushes and worries the world holds for us and at least, for a few minutes or a long period of time, just indulge in a great book or magazine.

Not only is it good for fun and as a hobby, but depending on what you read, you can learn a lot. You may find yourself learning a different language if you are reading a book foreign to your own language. It is also a wise idea to get kids into reading as they are able to prepare themselves for their future workloads within their studies.

For those who live on the Gold Coast, visit one of the many branches of the Gold Coast City Council Libraries where a large amount of books are available, not to mention dvds and tapes.

Try reading if you're not in the habit, just for fun or to learn about different places, peope, languages, cooking and anything that tickles your fancy as they say.

Simple, but great, advice. Sure we need to put down the book from time to time and engage with the great outdoors, but books take us to another place, stretch our minds (hopefully) and give our brain a little exercise. I've heard people say they dislike reading books because they don't like carrying them around, or the feel of the paper makes their hair stand on end. Well, today we have Kindles and iPods and iPhones and all the other readers, which make it so much easier. You can even enlarge the text if your eyesight's going. Read on!

That is exactly right. There are many people out there, I have my brother for instance, who really cannot sit down and grab a good book to indulge in. The newest technology which is being made, thank God the future is making things easier and more modern, is able to let those who do not have a passion for reading able to see what it is like and perhaps develop a love for it? Who knows? Everything is possible. And like you said, read on everyone! You never know what you will be into next!

Cheers
