It's something that we all want to beat - the big 'C' word. But many of us do not have any idea of how to begin.
Have no fear - up to 5000 women are walking, jogging and running 5km to raise money for Cancer Research UK in the
Race for Life at Regent's Park. They're hoping to break through a £600,000 target, which will go towards the potentially lifesaving work that the charity undertakes to help understand cancer and how it affects those who suffer from it.
There are events going on all around the country - many of which are still open for people to sign up to, and some of which are 10km rather than 5km if you feel up to the challenge. The event in Regent's Park will take place on Sunday 22nd May 2010, and begins at 11am. While this particular event is full up in terms of participants, there is still plenty of room for supporters on the day.
People take part in these events for all sorts of reasons - maybe a relative has been affected by the disease, or perhaps someone else close to them has had to battle it. It may just be out of the goodness of their hearts, knowing that the money raised is going towards the hope for a better future. Whatever the reason, they definitely deserve our support!

And even if you don't know anyone - perhaps you fancy a picnic in the park with the chance to witness something special, and the chance to boost the moral of those taking part. So head down to
Regent's Park, and keep your fingers crossed that the sun shines.
