Celebrate the year gone and a joyous expectation of the year ahead at the annual New Year's Eve Gala Concert!
The countdown is on and the Queensland Pops Orchestra is presenting an exhilarating and entertaining musical journey to usher in 2016 at their annual New Year's Eve Gala concert.
This year's event features a stellar line-up of some of Australia's most revered artists: special guest stars Silvie Paladino, Jason Barry-Smith and Cherin Lee will delight with a superb line-up of songs, arias and violin masterpieces from the greatest composers of opera, musical theatre and popular classical music.
Joining Silvie in the scene-stealing stakes is one of Brisbane's best-loved and gifted performing artists, Jason Barry-Smith. Jason is renowned for his ability to shift seamlessly from the greatest baritone arias from classical opera and musical theatre to comedic roles in light opera and operetta – he has performed in some of Opera Queensland's most successful productions, including Cinderella, Cosi fan tutte, The Magic Flute, The Mikado, Romeo & Juliet and La bohéme. Other Opera Queensland plaudits include his title roles in both Don Giovanni and The Barber of Seville and celebrated roles in The Pirates Of Penzance for Essgee Entertainment.
Virtuoso violinist Cherin Lee completes this triptych of talent, adding the 'wow' factor to this spectacular New Year's Eve celebration concert. At the tender age of 14, Cherin has won countless prestigious awards for performing excellence, notably the 2014 English Family Prize for Young Instrumentalists, At the ages of 10 and 11, Cherin was awarded back-to-back Distinctions for both AMusA and LMusA in violin.
