Businesses all over Brisbane are helping to raise funds for those affected by the floods. If you'd like to help, check out the following gigs. All funds will be donated to the
Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.
Music
Flood Gate brings together a huge list of Brisbane artists, such as Violent Soho, Inland Sea, The Baby Seal Club and Evil Eddie from Butterfingers, in one massive benefit concert. Flood Gate takes place on 3 February at the
Old Musum Building (corner Gregory Terrace and Bowen Bridge Road, Bowen Hills) and tickets are in exchange for a donation of $30, $50 or $100.
If you miss that one, you can always check out Float On at
The Hi-Fi (
123 Boundary Street, West End). The bill includes Regurgitator, Custard, Kate Miller-Hiedke and Hungry Kids of Hungary. Float On kicks off at 4.00pm on 6 February. Tickets are $39.50 per person and the gig is over eighteens only.
Sport
The One Day Australia versus England cricket match on 30 January will be a fundraiser for victims of the flood, with money raised on the day being donated. The match starts at 1.20pm and
tickets are still available for $45 - $90 per person. Support your fellow countrymen and watch the cricket – what could be more Australian?
Arts
Boutique bookstore the
Avid Reader (
193 Boundary Street, West End) will host a photographic exhibition from 31 January to 4 February. The organisers are still seeking submissions of flood related photographs, which will be received until until 29 January. Entry to the exhibition is via a donation.
Bar Soma (
22 Constance Street, Fortitude Valley) will celebrate Brisbane's rock and roll history at the Smac photographic exhibition. On display are photos taken from live rock gigs in Brisbane over the last decade. This event takes place on 30 January from 5.00pm and entry is free.
