On a rainy day in Brisbane, l can almost imagine l am in Paris.

That is if l venture to .

In this space, defined by travertine floors, high architectural, contemporary ceilings, bentwood chairs and minimalistic white tables overlooking the infinity pond and post modern gardenscape, complete with larger than life bronze sculptures, I have just devoured slowly and indulgently, as a French woman occasionally does, a beautiful home-made strawberry cheese cake.

I slowly sip earl grey tea and ponder my future life in Paris ...

I could apply for a scholarship and study Aromathérapie, Expressionism, Impressionism, Poetry ... so many possibilités!

Here in the , enjoying each sip of my tea as l take in the iconic contemporary surrounds of the Art Gallery, being served and charmed by the arty and very cultured wait staff, l can pretend l am the French Parisian heroine of the film l have just watched at the 25th Brisbane Alliance Francaise French Film Festival at the Palace Cinemas!

It delights and surprises me when l become a tourist of the city and discover what it is to love about Brisbane. l venture from my faux parisian cafe, into the subtropical rain to catch a ferry from Southbank to the Schonell Theatre (such a wonderful Brisbane Film institution, how many times has that theatre helped me to escape at budget ticket prices!)
