Bubble pearl tea is taking over Sydney.

Most of us probably heard of and tried Chatime or Easy Way. Personally I found them too artificial and overloaded with sugar syrups.

Queen of Spades is my favorite milk tea shop in Sydney so far. It is located off mainstream walkways, hence a secret dessert retreat.


Actually, this is more than a milk tea bar - it's also an Asian dessert bar. Open till late, it's the perfect place to grab a refreshing dessert after dinner.

Here they serve authentic Taiwanese desserts and tea, located in the Mandarin Center Food Court.


Like like any milk tea, you can mix and match any of the toppings. Customize if you prefer or you can go by the set toppings on the menu.

The popular toppings are the QQ Taro cubes (large gelatin-like piece unlike any other in Sydney). They are the closest to the true Taiwanese flavour.

The wobbly black sweetened herbal jelly quenches all thirst in the hot summer. Never overlook the shaved herbal ice, piling high holding together all the goodness. Unlike MeetFresh (another Asian dessert bar), the shaved ice here is a lot finer and use premium ingredients.

Of course, Queen of Spades sells the standard pearl milk tea series and mixed tea drinks hot or cold, you decide.


The bowl of summer delights. I just love those golden egg custard puddling. It's a bowl of sweet harmony!

Now you don't have an excuse not to visit after yum cha or before movies. You will be sweetened up and wish they open a few more franchises in Sydney.
