Keeping it local and hassle free, the 29th annual Ultimo
Pyrmont UPTown Festival will be held at Quarry Green, Ultimo on Saturday 27 March.
The free community event will host two stages featuring a mix of live bands, local artists, dance and multicultural entertainment.
The main festival stage will have performers playing upbeat Irishfolktunes, to the Indi/Spanish fusion as well as passionate funk, rock and soul. The
Klezmer Connexion will electrify audiences as they dance, sing and stomp their way through Gypsy soul music, featuring Yiddish songstress Fay Sussman. Local bands including Urban Bill's B's, and emerging talent will be showcased in performances by Pyrmont Children's Choir and International Grammar School.
Over at the youth and children's stage, the kids can get involved with Teambeat's African Drumming show and percussion workshop. There'll be reptiles on show from Feature Creatures, followed by appearances by Marty & Emu's Crazy Kids Show and Mrs Kaboodle. Local dance talent from Maybanke Youth Centre will also be on stage, as well as young Chinese dancers and a karate demonstration.
And carrying on with community event traditions, there will also be plenty of international food stalls, rides and roving performances from
Flying Pigs Entertainment.
