Pyrmont Growers Market

Published February 6th 2009
The Pyrmont Growers Market has grown from it's inception in 1999 to be one of the largest and best organic and local producer markets in Sydney.

It now boasts over 85 stalls selling everything from cheese and meat to coffee and fruit.

The market is held on the first Saturday of every month (which happens to be this weekend) from 7am to 11am in the Pyrmont Bay Park opposite Star City Casino. You can easily walk there from Darling Harbour.

Here are a few pictures of the market:

All the food sold is restricted by food miles, so you know that it's local produce which has contributed less to global warming than the banana from Chile you ate this morning.

It makes such a difference buying food from the people who actually produce it, and more often than not it tastes better as well.

This weekend (7th of February, 2009) the Dragon Boat Races are being held in Darling Harbour as well, so why not make a day of it with brunch at the markets followed by some dragon boat action.

Why? Great tasting food, and entertainment!
