Young or old, male or female, intellectual or street smart, pub trivia is one of those activities that everyone can enjoy. There's a plethora of trivia options in this city so if you're looking for something to do during the week, get a team together (hot tip – be sure to have one sports expert and one pop culture expert) and start playing.
The
Brunswick Hotel (
569 Brunswick Street, New Farm) hosts Harry's Trivia on Monday nights, where competitors have their questions read to them by a
real-life A Current Affair celebrity. Harry is one of Brisbane's most popular trivia hosts because he writes his own questions and the answers are always correct (somewhat uncommon in pub trivia – who hasn't fought with a host who swears that the
capital of Brazil is Rio de Janeiro?)
On Tuesday nights, the
Chalk Hotel Stumps Bar (
735 Stanley Street, Woolloongabba) gets the questions rolling at 7.00pm. Chalk Hotel, good food, cocktails, beautiful people – what's not to love?
Triviaman Tim has the punters guessing at the
Lord Stanley Hotel (
994 Stanley Street, East Brisbane) on Wednesday nights. Trivia begins promptly at 7.00pm and on top of the cash jackpot for first place, there are heaps of prizes and free drinks handed out throughout the night.
Harry's Trivia reappears at the Morningside Services Club (
481 Wynnum Road) on Thursday nights, from 7.30pm. That Harry is one busy man!
There's not a lot of pub trivia on Friday and Saturday nights but if you're really jonesing for a fix try your local schools, churches and community organisations, who usually host trivia fundraisers on these nights.
Wind down on Sunday night with interactive trivia at the
Greystone Bar and Cellar (
7/166 Grey Street, South Bank). Interactive trivia utilises DVD and SMS questions to engage all those Gen Y-ers with short attention spans, and starts at 6.00pm.
So grab your mates, brush up on your former Prime Ministers and Melbourne Cup winners and go for the jackpot at one of Brisbane's many pub trivia nights.
